Planning the Penultimate Picnic

picnic
One month out from the penultimate stage of the 2009 Tour de France and it looks like we’re ready for the madness. We’re hosting no fewer than 100 race fans and guests atop the Giant of Provence and we’re pulling out all the stops for a four-star, over-the-top VéloSport picnic feast.

We’ve already scoped out our spot, just after Chalet Reynard, complete with a stunning view of the summit. We’ve ordered up a six-person camper, a ‘Capucine’, a 60 square meter (646 square feet) tent with walls and windows, two private porta-lets with sinks, a flat screen and three other televisions, and a massive generator to power everything.

bakeryOur favorite Italian caterer is preparing the main dishes; we’re getting peaches, melons and apricots from a farm up the road; and the bread, pastries and tarts are all ordered. A friend of ours who works for a local vineyard is taking care of the wine order and we’ll have a few cases of locally made apricot nectar on hand also.

Now we just have to wait for the Tour to come to us!
