Maxwell Masters Ventoux Three-Peat

Steve Maxwell celebrates his Ventoux 3-Peat On July 28, 2009, long-time VéloSport guest Steve Maxwell became the 2705th person to officially climb Mont Ventoux by all three sides in one day (right). Steve said the 85 mile ride with 14,000 feet in elevation gain was a “…a tough, but unforgettable experience!”

Steve: ”I’ve been on three different VéloSport trips and I had a great time every trip. VéloSport puts together well thought-out tours which combine long-distance cycling and optimal Tour de France viewing. Riding the Tour route the same day as the race, and then watching the race come by is a fabulous experience for cycling nuts like me.

“This year my wife Sue joined me (below left). We rode our tandem bike some of the time, and I rode a VéloSport rental bike the rest of the time. If you don’t want to go to the hassle Steve & Sue Maxwell, Mont Ventoux stage 20 of bringing your own bike, it’s very comforting to know that you are riding a high-quality VéloSport bike which has been well-maintained with new tires, etc.

“After the formal group tour this year, VéloSport helped achieve a long-time goal – joining the “Crazies Club of Ventoux”. So on July 28th, I climbed all three approaches to the top of Mont Ventoux in a single day. 85 miles and 14,000 feet – a tough, but unforgettable experience!”
