Build on your early season form or top off your summer season here in cycling heaven! With its deep cycling culture and history, Provence has long been considered a cycling mecca and Mont Ventoux the ultimate pilgrimage. VéloSport’s carefully choreographed ride weeks will help you get the most out of the scenic and challenging local terrain.
We have a wide range of ride options to choose from. Daily ride routing and terrain vary and groups are organized by speed and difficulty. Cyclists can sign up for the distance/speed they want on any given day. Those who want more or less can work with on-road guides who can suggest changes. Daily rides range from 50K/31M to 113K/70M in distance.
Each riding group is supported by at least one professional on-road guide. Guides carry cell phones and two-way radios and are in contact with each other and the support car. Each ride is supported pro-style with a racked vehicle that carries a full tool kit, provides daily “feed zones” and serves as a sag vehicle if needed.
Sample Rides The ride program varies based on the number of riders, relative fitness levels and the weather. We have a range of routing and distance options and here are a few of our favorites:
- Don’t-Ask-Dentelles | This ride circles Les Dentelles de Montmirail while winding through several Côte du Rhône wine villages including Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Seguret, and Beaume-de-Venise.
- Sault What?! | One of the week’s most scenic tours, this ride circles the Ventoux by way of lavender fields and vineyards. The gentle 20K/12.4M climb up the breathtaking Nesque Gorge is a highlight.
- Mont Ventoux | The week’s ultimate challenge, the 21K/13M ascent with an average grade of 7.6% is known by French cyclists as “une casse patte” or leg breaker. We typically climb the classic Bedoin side. Once you have summited, you have only a long, beautifully smooth descent back to Malaucène.
Professional-quality road bikes are available for rent during the program.
