John Gatch

gatch-ventoux09John blames his love of France and cycling on his kindergarten French teacher and the green Gitane racing bike he received for Christmas when he was eleven years old. He raced through the junior ranks tried to make a living of cycling as a cat 1 racer.

John has been with VéloSport Vacations since 2000, working both the Tour de France and the Provence/Ventoux programs. As one our fittest guides (we call him ‘Le Petit Lapin’), he was recently crowned Ohio State cyclocross champion.

John was a mechanic for the Motorola Professional Cycling Team in Europe and worked for the Mavic neutral support program domestically. John mapped the courses and was the Technical Director for the Kent Tour of China in ‘95 & ‘96, the Assistant Technical Director for the Tour du Pont from ‘92-’96, and the Technical Director for the US National Road Championships in ‘98 & ‘99. He worked as the athlete/team liaison for the 2007/08 Tour de Georgia and has been with the Tour of Missouri in the same capacity since 2007.

John is a member in good standing of the Pedaling Punsters and is one of the Johns of the famously witty and wise Two Johns Podcast. Never wanting for words, he has also announced several UCI cyclo-cross events and co-hosts a number of radio shows.

John’s Thoughts Whether summiting a mountain in the Pyrénées, riding into a finish city, touring around Paris by bike, or sharing a glass of wine after a long day in the saddle, my reward is helping clients achieve their best cycling days ever.
